Interview: Holy Ghost! (2013)

One of the perks of being a member of a university radio station has been getting to interview cool bands. The biggest thus far would have to be Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel, AKA Holy Ghost!, the DFA disco-punk synth masters from New York City. After the interview got pushed back an hour, we met in their green room before their show at the Observatory in Santa Ana. We started to talk right before Classixx, their opener (more on them in this blog later) began their set. It was a phenomenal interview minus the competing bass going on just below us and the frequent in-and-outs of doors being opened and closed. Such is show business, I suppose. But I digress. Not only could Nick and Alex not have been nicer, but they gave me over 15 minutes and for that I’m appreciative. In the following interview, hear us discuss the validity of lyrics in dance music, releasing their new single the same day as Daft Punk releases a new album, and what the goal of starting a dance band really is.
